Unisex Tennis Ladder Rules

Greetings, for the summer I (Pat) have constructed a tennis ladder for both male and female to compete in. The ladder is open to all adult members as well as the invited intermediates who attend club nights. Ideally I would want the names of those who are interested to be recorded down ASAP as I will draw the names by 20^th June. Late entries will be accepted but will be situated at the bottom of the ladder.

Rules:

1. Players will be randomly assigned positions at the beginning of the tournament.

2. In order to move up the ladder, you may challenge someone (1), (2) or (3) levels above you.

3 After each game the player who wins is responsible for switching the name tags around.

4. Players will play best of three sets, there is no third set just a tie-break to 7.

5. If you beat the player you challenged, you take their spot, and the loser moves down one spot as well as the player beneath the loser. If a player challenged an individual (3) spots above and wins, the loser will move down one spot, consequently pushing the players underneath to a lower level.

6. If you beat the player who challenged you, there is no movement of positions on the ladder. Keep in mind your position can go down even when not playing a match.

7. You can only challenge a player two times before your position changes.

8. If challenged, you must reach a date that suits both of you. 

9. The player in the number 1 spot cannot make any challenges, they can only respond to challenges.
